Episode 4 Lord, That I may Receive my Sight

Episode 4 Lord, That I may Receive my Sight

Some prayers are simple—but powerful enough to change everything. In this episode, we look at two moments where people were asked a direct question by God: “What do you want?” One was a blind man crying out for mercy. The other was a king given anything he could ask for.

Their answers reveal something deeper than need—they reveal the heart.

Today, we explore what it means to ask God for the right thing, and how one honest request can open the door to transformation, clarity, and blessing.

Show Notes:

Key Scriptures (KJV):

  • Luke 18:41–43 – “Lord, that I may receive my sight.”
  • 1 Kings 3:5 – “Ask what I shall give thee.”
  • 1 Kings 3:11 – God honors Solomon’s request for wisdom.

Episode Breakdown:

1. The Question That Reveals the Heart

Jesus asked the blind man, “What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee?” (Luke 18:41).

God asked Solomon, “Ask what I shall give thee.” (1 Kings 3:5).

God already knows our needs—but He still invites us to ask. Why? Because our request reveals our priorities.

2. A Cry for Mercy and Clarity

The blind man didn’t ask for money, comfort, or ease—he asked for sight.

His request was direct, desperate, and faith-filled:

“Lord, that I may receive my sight.”

And immediately, Jesus responded.

3. A King Who Asked for Wisdom

Solomon could have asked for wealth, power, or long life—but instead, he asked for understanding.

Because his request aligned with God’s heart, God not only granted wisdom—but added everything else.

4. What Are You Asking For?

Sometimes our prayers stay unanswered—not because God isn’t listening, but because we’re asking for less than what He wants to give.

God invites us to pray boldly—but also wisely.

Application Questions:

  1. If God asked you today, “What do you want Me to do for you?”—what would you say?
  1. Are your prayers focused more on temporary needs or eternal growth?
  1. Where do you need “spiritual sight” in your life right now?
  1. What would it look like to begin asking God for wisdom first?
  1. Is there anything you’ve been afraid to ask God for honestly?

Short Prayer:

Lord, You know my needs before I speak them—but today I come honestly before You. Give me clarity where I am blind, and wisdom where I am unsure. Help me to ask for what truly matters and to trust You with the rest. Open my eyes, shape my heart, and guide my steps. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Key Verse (KJV):

Luke 18:41

“Saying, Lord, that I may receive my sight.”
