Who am I Lord?

Who am I Lord?

In a moment of quiet reflection, King David sits before the Lord and asks a powerful, humbling question: “Who am I?” This episode explores what it means to recognize God’s grace in our lives—not because of who we are, but because of who He is. When we truly grasp how far God has brought us, gratitude replaces pride, and worship becomes our natural response.

Show Notes

David had just received an incredible promise from God—a covenant that would establish his house forever. Yet instead of boasting, David does something remarkable: he sits before the Lord in humility.

This posture matters.

David reflects on three key truths:

1. He remembered where he came from

David wasn’t always a king—he was a shepherd. When we lose sight of where God brought us from, we risk losing gratitude.

2. He recognized God’s hand in his journey

“…that thou hast brought me hitherto…”

David understood that every step forward was directed by God. It wasn’t luck, talent, or coincidence—it was divine grace.

3. He responded with humility, not entitlement

“Who am I…?”

David didn’t assume he deserved God’s blessings. He was overwhelmed by them.

We live in a world that constantly tells us to elevate ourselves—but Scripture calls us to humble ourselves before God. True spiritual maturity isn’t found in self-importance, but in God-awareness.

When we sit before the Lord like David did, we begin to see clearly:

  • God’s faithfulness
  • Our dependence
  • His overwhelming grace

Short Prayer

Lord, who am I that You would bless me, guide me, and sustain me? Thank You for bringing me this far. Help me to walk in humility, never forgetting that every good thing in my life comes from You. Keep my heart grateful and my spirit grounded in Your grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
