When God Seems Distant - Episode 2401
When life gets hard, it can feel like God has stepped away. Elijah faced this reality as Israel fell deeper into sin under King Ahab and Jezebel’s influence. Yet even in a nation drowning in idolatry and personal heartbreak—like the death of the widow’s son—God was still near. This episode explores what happens when we feel distant from God, how our obedience or disobedience affects His presence in our lives, and how Christ reminds us that love and obedience go hand in hand.
Elijah’s story in 1 Kings shows us the danger of turning away from God and the blessing of staying close to Him. When Israel followed Baal, their actions drove them further from the presence and favor of the Lord. But Elijah remained faithful, and even in grief, he called on God for life and restoration.
Jesus later reinforced this truth in John 14:23–24—those who love Him will keep His word, and He will make His home with them. When we distance ourselves through disobedience or neglect, it’s not that God has left us; rather, we’ve stepped away from His presence. But the moment we seek Him again, He’s right there—ready to restore, renew, and revive.
