In Acts 12:1-16, the early church is praying for Peter while he is imprisoned and facing what appears to be a hopeless situation. But while the church is praying, God is working.
God sends an angel. Peter’s chains fall off. The prison doors open. Peter walks free.
Then something remarkable happens.
Peter goes to the house where the believers are gathered in prayer, but when they hear that Peter is standing at the door, they can hardly believe it!
They were praying for an answer—but when God answered, they struggled to believe it.
Have you ever done the same thing?
Maybe you’ve been praying about a situation for so long that you’ve begun to wonder if anything will ever change. Maybe the circumstances seem impossible. Acts 12 reminds us that God is not limited by our circumstances, and He is still able to answer prayer.
