In 2 Peter 3:1–3, Peter emphasizes the importance of a “pure mind” stirred up by remembrance. Forgetfulness in the Christian life leads to vulnerability. When truth fades from our focus, deception finds its way in.
Paul echoes this in 2 Timothy 1:5–6 as he encourages Timothy to stir up the gift within him. Faith, though genuine, can grow dormant if neglected. Like a fire, it must be tended.
